The Future Julie Andrews (or The Lie I Told Myself As A Child)

Unless you're a rhino who wants to be a unicorn. That's not giving up, that's refusing to bend to the pressure the media puts on rhinos to be more mythical.

I found this on Jon Acuff's blog and it took me back to my childhood dreams.
I used to dream big. Bigger than my little 7 year old self.
I dreamed that I would one day be a ballerina.
I dreamed that one day I would have 100 kids.
I dreamed that I could sing like Julie Andrews.
Don't laugh.
She was my hero. I could sing all of her parts from The Sound Of Music and Mary Poppins and O Come All Ye Faithful from her Christmas album. I can whistle like her too!
(BTW, Here are a few of my favorites:

Do-Re-Mi(Reprise) by Sound of Music on Grooveshark
O Come All Ye Faithful by Julie Andrews on Grooveshark)

I was pretty sure that when I grew up I would be discovered. The possibilities were endless from there!
I can hear you laughing! Don't. This is a serious story and it has taken me years to finally confess all this!

But when I grew up I found out that I was a contralto. Not just any contralto. A dramatic contralto. The deepest, darkest female voice. There went my dreams of being a soprano.
I found this out about the same time I found out that Mesomorphs can't be ballerinas.

That was when I realized that Rhinos will never be unicorns, but they are special too! As in they(unlike unicorns) actually exist! I guess even sopranos and ballerinas have unfulfilled dreams too...

So I have excepted my "Rhino-dom" and am content because I know that God loves all the little Rhinos of the world.

And I put this picture as my iPhone screensaver so that I remember to never give up on my realistic dreams, but to ditch my "unicorn" dreams so I can focus on what really matters in life.

With all that said here is a song that I love(that I can sing to, too because contraltos can usually sing tenor too!:))

Newsboys – Forever Reign Lyrics
You are good, You are good
When there’s nothing good in me
You are love, You are love
On display for all to see
You are light, You are light
When the darkness closes in
You are hope, You are hope
You have covered all my sin

You are peace, You are peace
When my fear is crippling
You are true, You are true
Even in my wandering
You are joy, You are joy
You’re the reason that I sing
You are life, You are life
In You death has lost its sting

I’m running to Your arms
I’m running to Your arms
The riches of Your love
Will always be enough

Nothing compares
To Your embrace
Light of the world
Forever reign

You are more, You are more
Than my words will ever say
You are Lord, You are Lord
All creation will proclaim
You are here, You are here
In Your presence I’m made whole
You are God, You are God
Of all else I’m letting go

My heart will sing
No other name
Jesus, Jesus

A Great Holiday

So most of you who read my sibling blogs have already read this post(or one very similar) and I am sure you don't want to read it yet another time. So if that is the case you can stop reading if not you can keep reading.
Monday we went rappelling for the first time... EVER!!!
A couple of weeks ago we had our friends, the P. family over for dinner and we talked about going rappelling together. So when their kids were on break form college this Monday they invited us to go rappelling with them. So we did.
I was a little nervous about doing it for the first time with people watching. I usually like to practice things by myself and know what I'm doing before I let other people see me. that is why I run on an abandon drive way near our house... because I'm not a good runner and don't want people to see me.

But, that aside, everyone was very encouraging and I didn't feel too silly... except for the time that I ended up upside down. But we will talk about that later. Later as in never, because it was too embarrassing to talk about. All I can say is at least I didn't cry!

This is the beautiful view from the rock. Just a glimpse of all that God can do.

Mr Scott. I'm not sure what he's doing. I guess he's spying on the neighbors.
Ryan looking very cold.

Ryan wants y'all to know that he was the first Pritchett kid to go down.
But Davis officially went down first.

Rachel going down.
This is me going down.

This is everyone watching me hang upside down. Mark, the photographer was kind enough not to take a picture of me upside down.
Here is Mrs. P. with her oldest sons Davis and Nathan.

This is Joel going down upside down (on purpose, unlike me) and Nathan climbing.
Joel? JOEL!?!

Joel, still upside down.

Ryan wanted me to post this picture. It's his favorite.
Mr. Scott. The best instructor EVER! We kids like him a lot. Not many men besides him and my dad would be willing to take a bunch of teenagers rappelling.
This is "The Rock"
I'm not sure why Rachel looks so bored in this picture. I'm sure she had fun though.

Michael says that Joel is his favorite so he want me to post this picture for y'all.

Michael says Nathan is his second favorite so I should post this one too.

And last but not least Jess and Rachel looking lovely in the sunlight. Jess sensibly remained on the ground throughout the day.

Over all, we had a great time and we all want to do that again!

Blessed Jesus

Not too long ago I found a link to worshiptogether.com. When I went on the website I saw that every couple of weeks they have Free Song Friday; no strings attached! And since I love free things as long as they are useful or music related I joined and now I get to download a new, free song every couple of weeks!!!
But my all time favorite download has been Blessed Jesus by Leigh Nash! I love the banjo in it and I think that Leigh Nash has a pretty neat voice. Plus, I have always liked the lyrics of Blessed Jesus but have never really liked the tune, now I like the lyrics and the tune!
Enjoy!

Blessed Jesus by Leigh Nash on Grooveshark

Verse 1
Savior, like a shepherd lead us
Much we need Thy tender care
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us
For our use Thy folds prepare
Blessed Jesus
Blessed Jesus
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are
Blessed Jesus
Blessed Jesus
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are

Verse 2
We are Thine, Thou dost befriend us
Be the guardian of our way
Keep Thy flock from sin, defend us
Seek us when we go astray
Blessed Jesus
Blessed Jesus
Hear, O hear us when we pray
Blessed Jesus
Blessed Jesus
Hear, O hear us when we pray

Verse 3
Thou hast promised to receive us
Poor and sinful though we be
Thou hast mercy to relieve us
Grace to cleanse and pow'r to free
Blessed Jesus
Blessed Jesus
We will early turn to Thee
Blessed Jesus
Blessed Jesus
We will early turn to Thee

Rachel and Me

For those of you who don't know me or my twin, Rachel, this is exactly what we are like.
If Rachel says she is going to clean her room she cleans it.
If I say I am going to clean my room I am going to think about it at least 75% of the time.
I once read a book that said that Perfectionists are analytical.
Ain't that the truth!
We both get the room clean, but it takes me longer because I have to think about what the best way to do it would be.
Rachel's method probobly works better, but I'm not sure... I'm still thinking about it. :)

And while we are talking about it...
Happy Birthday Rachel!!!

The Wexford Carol

Recently I was talking to a friend about long car ride, iPhones and music and somewhere in there Alison Krauss popped up.
Which reminded me how much I like Alison Krauss. Especially this song that she did with Yo-Yo Ma.
So here is a video of The Wexford Carol preformed by Yo-Yo Ma and Alison Krauss!
